Snakegod News
November 2006
Greetings, all our dear and faithful friends across the globe! At long last,
Snakegod are very proud to reveal to you that the first three songs of the
forthcoming album have now been honed to perfection at the studio. Judging
by those three, we're looking at a phenomenal album. Still, first things
first: Jari is off to Japan to perform his duties as the MSG lead singer.
Naturally, he will pack the Snakegod songs - Remember Me, Temple of the Sun
and You Won't Shoot Me Down - in his rucksack to alleviate his homesickness.
The next step will be to choose the most suitable distributor to spread the
word to the world! Plans for a tour in the spring are also well under way.
September 2005 Rest assured, our friends out there - the new Snakegod album is still on its way. Even as we speak, the package is on show at a big music fair in Germany, where everybody will doubtless fall head over heels for it, thereby securing us a world-wide distribution deal. There were some difficulties in July, though - the angels mentioned above must have taken the news about a new rival to the gods above. The gods naturally detest more competition, the pandemonium being as crowded as it is, so they started hurtling thunder and lightning down Oulu way, and shoenuf, one of the bolts hit the Mastervox studios. The equipment turned toast, postponing the mixing stage for a couple of months, but now we're back on track and raring to go!

The second Snakegod album is proceeding nicelier than ever. The band
travelled to Mastervox Studios in Oulu to add some finishing touches atop
the stone foundation previously erected by the dynamic Snakegod drum'n
bass duo Lacu & Hannu. Make Ruokonen made his guitar scream and cry all
the way to high heavens, whereupon hoards of angels decided to give up
the harp and go heavy metal. So, they fluttered down to Earth to ask our
guitar hero par excellence to teach them his hottest licks. Jari, for his
part, was not at all perturbed by the presence of higher beings, being
demigod himself, and sang so pure and high that later the rest of the
band simply had to invite him to a sauna evening to see whether he still
had all his family jewels intact. He proved to be SO male!
Jani Hölli, whom the rest of the band affectionately call Jean Hurley due
to his musical genius comparable to Sibelius and his looks comparable to
Liz, is not only the laziest but also the most business-wise member of
the band. The afore-mentioned angels still rustling their wings in the
studio, he managed to negotiate a secret deal with them. You might THINK
the heavenly backing choirs on the album are keyboard-generated, but
Seriously speaking, practically all of the stuff has now been recorded.
The rest will be up to sound engineers. If they don't mangle it all up,
we may be looking at a true masterpiece.
March 2005 The second Snakegod album is proceeding nicely. Contrary to expectations, Mr. Tervaharju didn't really mind where to record the final bass tracks. His only condition was that the studio be located within walking distance from his residence, as he's not too keen on travelling. The Snakegod organisation rapidly had a studio built not 200 yards from Tervaharju Manor, and our eccentric bass guru forthwith laid down some bass lines that will shortly persuade many a prominent bass player to sell their gear and seek employment on the railroads.
January 2005 We are happy to inform you that Jari spent a good part of January recording in Phoenix, Arizona. Michael Schenker had invited Jari to work as the lead singer on his 25th anniversary album Tales of Rock'n'Roll. After the December gigs in England, Michael was so impressed by the singer's talent that Jari got a leading role on the album. He wrote the melodies and most of the lyrics to 14 of the 19 songs, while the ex-MSG singers Kelly Keeling and Robin McAuley plus the ex-Rainbow vocalist Graham Bonnett took care of the five remaining tracks.
December 2004 Snakegod recently visited Seawolf Studios in Helsinki. The choice of the studio was due to our cute little drummer Lacu, who could fulfil all is secret dreams concerning microphone positioning & whatnot at Seawolf's spacey premises. Snakegod is happy to inform you all that the drum tracks for the band's second album have now been laid down, and they truly KICK ASS! Next, we will probably have to ask Mr. Tervaharju the Bass Wizard where HIS favourite studio is located.
December 2004 Jari has returned from a successful trip to England. Guitar legend Michael Schenker wanted to introduce Jari to London audiences, who gave him a marvellous reception indeed. More later on the purpose of the introduction - we have great news in store! A new piece of Finnish rock history, in fact...
October 2004
"Plant Waves" the Robert Plant Tribute Album has now been released. New Snakegod album: on drums will be Lacu (Hanoi Rocks) and on bass Hannu Tervaharju.
June 2004 A lot has happened in the meantime.... Pete has left Snakegod and will be replaced by a new bass player. Snakegod is working on their new album (on drums probably Lacu) and the guys also have other band projects beside SG. Jari joined Masterstroke, Jani formed a new Lovemetal band called SoulRelic and Make has started another band as well.
